The Chatham Daily News started in the mid-1800s as The Kent Advertiser, and later became the Chatham Weekly Banner. By the end of the 1800s, the Banner had become a daily publication, and eventually became the Chatham Daily News. In the 1920s, the Daily News was merged with the Chatham Daily Planet, a paper of similar age, and continues publication right up to the present day.
